1915 A new S.I.P.E. site to produce nitro-cellulose mixture is built in Ferrania, Italy.
     
  1923 FILM (Fabbrica Italiana Lamine Milano, formed in 1917) presents its first positive motion picture film at the Turin exhibition.
     
  1926 The company begins manufacture of X-ray film.
     
  1927 The company breaks into the photography market (film and paper) and sets up several complete lines in various formats, from the Leica 24x36 to the 6x9 format and flat film.
     
  1936 Research laboratories expand, leading to development of an original system for synthesis of sensitizers and production of infrared plates and film.
     
  1938 The company name changes to "Ferrania".
     
  1947 Ferrania introduces motion picture color film into the market.
     
  1960 La Ciociara ("Two Women" starring Sophia Loren) filmed in Ferrania P30, wins the Oscar.
     
  1964 The "Ferrania" (Italy) and "Dynacolor" (USA) companies are acquired by Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, USA (3M). Thanks to the global distribution networks, sales of products developed and manufactured by "Ferrania" now expand world-wide.
     
  1968 Introduction of the first private label brand photographic films to the European market.
     
  1972 Introduction of the first private label brand photographic films to the U.S. market.
     
  1974 World's first rare earth X-ray intensifying screens - Trimax™ - are introduced, reducing X-ray exposure by half.
     
  1976 U.S. manufacturing operations for photographic film are relocated to Weatherford, Oklahoma.
     
  1979 First producer of anti-crossover X-ray films - Trimax™ XUD - improving image quality; design and launch of the first centralized daylight film handling system - Trimatic™ - to load and unload radiographic cassettes in full daylight.
     
  1980 Weatherford plant triples its converting capacity.
     
  1984 Launch of innovative films for world's first wet laser imager.
     
  1985 "Scotch™" is introduced as the photographic products brand name.
Introduction of new "J Band" and cubic grain technology for X-ray films.
     
  1991 The Ferrania site in Italy becomes the first photographic film manufacturer to earn ISO 9001 & ISO 9002 certifications.
     
  1992 Pioneering development and launch of X-ray films utilizing laminar crystal anti-crossover technologies.
The Weatherford, Oklahoma, USA site earns ISO 9002 certification.
     
  1993 Advanced Processing System (APS) released, reducing processing time, chemical usage and environmental impact.
     
  1994 Launch of an innovative asymmetric system - Trimax™ GCA - for chest examinations.
Ferrania becomes a licensee of the photographic industry consortium set up for development of Advanced Photo System products.
     
  1996 Imation Corporation (spin-off of Information and Imaging business of 3M, including Ferrania site and businesses) is launched as an independent company.

2000 November, 30th
Exclusive supplier of Kodak Health Imaging film products.
     
  1999 Ferrania Technologies is acquired by Schroder Ventures - Europe (now Permira). The company is launched as an independent company.
     
  2000 New generation FG negative films introduced; Solaris™ introduced as the photographic products brand name.
New range of photo-quality inkjet media introduced, distributed under the OptiJet™ brand name.

Ferrania Technologies re-enters the Medical Diagnostic Imaging marketplace with its own brands, offering a complete range of new advanced technological solutions.
     
  2000 Launch of LifeWeb™ - Ferrania's Image and Information Management System (RIS/PACS) for the integrated management of radiographic information for diagnostic purposes.
     
  2001 Launch of LifeJet™ Printing System for Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, referral copy and associated medical imaging requirements; launch of new LifeWeb™ RIS (Radiology Information System).
Introduction of a complete range of inkjet cartridges distributed under the Optijet™ brand name.
     
  2002 Launch of LifeInVision™ - Ferrania's Digital Acquisition Solutions.
