Ferrania
Technologies' history in the U.S. begins in 1964 when the
Ferrania company was acquired by Minnesota-based Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing
(3M). In 1972, the first private label photographic film brands were introduced
into the American market.
The
company's activities expanded in 1976, when 3M moved into the Weatherford,
Oklahoma facility. Spooling and packaging of 110 and 126 products at the
Weatherford site began in 1977. In 1980 the plant tripled its production
capacity. State-of-the-art integrated production lines were installed
in 1991. The prestigious ISO 9002 certification was received in
1992. Imation Corporation, a spin-off from 3M, was launched in July 1996;
and in 1999 when Schroder Ventures acquired the company, Ferrania
Technologies became an independent company again.
U.S. operations
are located in Weatherford, Oklahoma (Manufacturing and Administrative
Offices) and Woodbury, Minnesota (Sales, Marketing and Technical
Service Offices).
