High quality digital images
rely on smart choices

Three major digital radiography technologies are currently available:

- CCD (Charge-coupled device) Camera
- Solid State Direct-Conversion Flat-Panel Detectors (FPD
- Solid State Indirect-Conversion Flat-Panel Detectors (FPD

Ferrania LifeImaging Division
has made the right choice, that is:

Solid State Indirect-Conversion Flat-Panel Detector based on structured Thallium doped Cesium Iodide scintillator coupled with a two dimensional array of amorphous Silicon photodiodes and thin film transistor (TFT).

The main advantages of Ferrania's indirect-conversion FPD are:
- High image cycle time (every 5 seconds);
- Very high X-ray absorption (80% @ RQA 5 and 500 µm layer thickness);
- Lowest electronic noise;
- High dynamic range (14 bit);
- Optimal pixel pitch (143 µm) for General Radiography applications;
- Highest Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE > 60% @ 0.5 cycles/mm @ RQA 5)
- Portrait (35x43-cm) or landscape (43x35-cm) images available without detector's rotation thanks to its 43x43-cm (17x17-inch) size.
