A history of success

The name Ferrania has left its mark on the history of Italian and European picture taking thanks to the millions of square metres of photographic and cinematographic film sold since 1923.
The greatest Italian directors, such as Fellini, De Sica, Antonioni and Pasolini – just to name a few – worked with Ferraniacolor film. However, there are many others, though perhaps not so famous, who have purchased the “Made in Italy” photographic film rolls by the Italian photography specialist.
For many years, Ferrania also designed and built cameras for the amateur market where it also made history.
Hereafter are some of Ferrania historical pieces and advertising campaigns.

Rondine & Elioflex cameras - 1950
The Rondine and the Elioflex are now part of the famous Marco Antonetto collection in the Turin Cinema and Photography Museum.

Advertising Campaign for Ferraniacolor Invertibile e Ibis 34 - 1958
According to print laboratory statistics of the late 50’s, the amateur photographer’s favourite subject was definitely the female portrait (followed obviously by children and animals). This is the reason why Ferrania advertising campaigns were punctuated with so many symbolic women. The advert of Ferraniacolor film and Ibis 34 camera shows a woman picture, representing the typical mass summer holiday shot.
Lince & Electa cameras - 1961
A complete series of Ferrania 35 mm cameras was introduced on the market: the two Electa models were the first with automatic exposure, the key to good results with color film.
